Welcome! My name is Alysha Ruffatto, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Matthew Whalen, LPC-S here at Changing Tides. With a heart for healing and a deep respect for each person’s unique journey, I focus on providing a safe, grounded space where clients from ages 8 to 80 can feel truly seen and supported. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, it is my goal to offer you a calm, compassionate presence and an open mind to help you reconnect with your resilience.
Education and Experience
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in 2023, where I gained a strong foundation in evidence-based practices and client-centered care. I bring warmth, empathy, and a dedication to helping clients navigate life’s challenges with resilience and self-compassion. My approach is informed by my clinical training and a deep commitment to fostering meaningful change in the lives of those I serve.
Specialities
I specialize in trauma and individual counseling. A thoughtful combination of traditional talk therapy with powerful brain-based approaches like LENS Neurofeedback and Brainspotting are key to my practice. These methods gently help the nervous system release stored stress and trauma, allowing clients to access healing at a deeper level—often beyond words.

I subscribe to a warm, down-to-earth style, believing that therapy isn’t about “fixing” anyone, but about partnering together to uncover strength, insight, and a renewed sense of wholeness. I am honored to walk alongside children, teens, adults, and older adults alike, and see each session as an opportunity to reconnect with hope.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me on the tennis courts working on my forehand, giving it my best Carole King impression on the piano, or hanging out with my family and my two dogs, Rufus and Sly.
