About Me
Hi! My name is Abby Shears, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve lasting emotional wellness. I am supervised by Matthew Whalen, LPC-S.
Going back to complete my graduate education later in life has given me a unique perspective. After more than 23 years of marriage, raising three sons, and navigating many of life’s challenges, I understand that growth often comes through life’s most difficult seasons. I believe these experiences allow me to connect with clients in an authentic, compassionate way as we work together toward healing and lasting change.
Education and Experience
I earned my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and have completed two master’s degrees from Liberty University:
• Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling
• Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
As an LPC Associate, I provide evidence-based counseling under the supervision of Matthew Whalen, LPC-S, and am committed to helping clients develop practical skills, increase resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Using evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), I strive to provide a supportive, collaborative environment where you can heal, build on your strengths, and achieve the goals that matter most to you.

I have a special interest in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and with teens navigating the unique pressures of adolescence.
