Transitioning from summer break back to school mode can be stressful for a lot of families. Here are some ways to minimize that stress and make the transition as smooth as possible.


  1. Get organized

Make to do lists for each person one month before school starts to make sure everyone is prepared with the things they need to be successful.

  1. Set up schedules

Work schedules, sleep schedules, chore schedules, and drop off and pick up schedules

Coordinate with neighbors or your support system so you have back up in case things change.

  1. Leave room for changes

Do not over book your time, leave room for flexibility. Try not to schedule any work travel or new activities in the first few weeks back to school.

  1. Communicate weekly

Have a family meeting each week to talk about what is working and what may need to change for the following week.
